Cream cheese on the other hand is heavier than mascarpone cheese. So simply add another ¼ cup of heavy whipping cream. In place of Limoncello, you can use an equal measurement of lemon juice plus 2 tablespoons of sugar . . . if you prefer not to have any alcohol in the recipe or you can’t get a bottle of Limoncello near you. Combine mascarpone cheese and 1 tablespoon of sugar in a medium bowl using a hand mixer. In a separate bowl, add heavy cream, the remaining sugar, vanilla, and salt and mix with a hand mixer on high speed until peaks form. Fold the creamy mixture and lemon juice into the mascarpone mixture and combine well. Heat the cream in the microwave or over the stove until it is just steaming. Pour the cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 5 minutes. Whisk the chocolate and cream together until smooth and fully combined. Let it cool for a few minutes to make sure it doesn't melt the top of the cheesecake. To the bowl of egg yolks, add the granulated sugar and, using the electric mixer, beat until the yolks become thick and pale yellow, about 5 minutes. Clean the whisk attachments and dry them thoroughly. Beat the egg whites until they form stiff peaks, 4 to 5 minutes. How to Make Tiramisu: Tiramisu is made of 2 basic components – the cream layer and the coffee-soaked ladyfingers. The process is simple: Quickly dip half of the ladyfingers in coffee syrup and arrange in a 9×13 casserole. Combine 6 yolks and 3/4 cup sugar and continue whisking over a saucepan of simmering water for 9-10 minutes. It’s great for lasagnas, casseroles, white-based sauces, and pizzas. It can be used for desserts as well but not for all recipes. I recommend using it as a cake or muffin frosting. 4. Greek yogurt. A cheaper but still healthier substitute for mascarpone is the superfood greek yogurt. Sprinkle on 1 ½ teaspoons of cocoa (add the cocoa to a fine-mesh strainer and tap the strainer to dust on the cocoa evenly.) Repeat with another layer of dipped Savoiardi, a third of the filling, and 1 ½ teaspoons of cocoa. For the final layer, add the dipped Savoiardi to the top of the tiramisu. To make the cream mixture: In a medium bowl beat the egg (if using) for approximately 30 seconds then add the sugar, mascarpone and cream, beat on medium until thickened. (approximately 5-10 minutes, you don’t want it to be too thick or too thin, nice and creamy ). ChY37K.
