Noise is about the same on both. Super Slim might be more quiet on paper, but my ears can't tell the difference. They're both not the best looking consoles, but that shouldn't really matter. To me it's all about ease of use, power consumption, and noise level. Ps2 for complete compatiblity of all ps1 controllers, memory cards and accessories. Ps3 for the image clarity with upscaling from HDMI and probably the best emulation on console. I second this. PS2 gives you the ability to use all of the PS1's different controllers and accessories. Imma add something for those who say the backwards compatible model isn't needed if you already have a PS2. The BC PS3 is quite possibly the best official way to play PS2 games on a modern television.
